Pangea
A speculative mobile app designed to support teen mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pangea uses continental and oceanic metaphors to visualize emotional drift and reconnection—transforming isolation into shared experience through reflection, play, and digital empathy.
Role
UX and Visual Designer – Capstone Collaboration
Scope
- Brand identity and app naming
- UI/UX design and wireframing
- Persona development and
accessibility testing
- High-fidelity prototyping and emotional mapping

Process
Pangea was designed as a speculative app that reimagines mental health support through the lens of emotional geography. Drawing from the concept of the prehistoric supercontinent, the app uses visual metaphors of drifting continents and rising oceans to represent emotional distance and reconnection. I led the visual identity, UI design, and brand tone, while collaborating on research, personas, and accessibility. From micro-interactions to reflection tools, each feature aimed to translate emotional nuance into supportive, user-centered design.
Result
Pangea is a prototype for digital empathy—an interface that doesn’t just serve users, but sees them. The oceanic metaphor guides every interaction, encouraging teens to explore their feelings as shifting landscapes rather than fixed states. This project stands as a deeply intentional approach to emotional design, merging visual storytelling with mental health advocacy.
Problem
During the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, teenagers faced heightened mental health challenges—yet few digital tools existed that felt safe, intuitive, or emotionally resonant. Most platforms were too clinical or disconnected from the way teens naturally express themselves.
