Problem
How can we use design to support language learning in early childhood—and why does it matter? Inspired by my own journey exploring how design and language intersect (documented in my book The Process of Language and Design), I saw a gap in how museums foster multilingual play from a global perspective.
Process
Murmeln began as a speculative extension of Marbles Kids Museum, reimagined for a German audience. I developed a visual identity, mission, and spatial system rooted in multilingual education and cultural storytelling. Research from my book directly informed the museum’s philosophy: that art, language, and play are deeply intertwined—and when introduced early, they help children embrace learning with fluidity and curiosity.
Result
Murmeln represents more than a museum—it’s a framework for global connection through creative education. The brand system and concept layout demonstrate how intentional design can introduce children to language not just as a skill, but as a way to see the world. This project stands as a personal and strategic expression of design’s role in cross-cultural development.
